MARVEL Avengers: Age of Ultron Movie Marathon Party
It is a hat trick today, with my third ode to all things Avengers with our MARVEL Avengers: Age of Ultron Movie Marathon Sleepover Party. If I haven’t mentioned before, we cannot wait for the movie’s May 1 release, remember our Easter Egg Hunt and birthday party ideas?
To catch up on all things Avengers, my goal was to watch as many movies as they could stand. Which was hard, since very few (meaning 1 person) had not seen Iron Man 3, Thor, Avengers and Captain America 2, our catch up movies of choice.
Plus, keeping elementary and middle school boys entertained and off their devices is a job in and of itself, especially since this is a sleepover. But we’ll get to that later.
First, we have to get the party started with food and decorations. Thankfully, Walmart has everything you need to throw an awesome party together in one trip. Not only do they have great themed toy and party sections, you can’t throw a stone without hitting movie branded food like Doritos, Dr. Pepper, Cheez-It crackers, and Kellogg’s Fruit Snacks. I love that their party section includes my favorite SweetWorks candy and Wilton candy melts…staples in my party repertoire.
Sidebar, Thor is on the Kellogg’s Corn Flakes box? I know…I thought they would have made a box of hammer-shaped cereal. I would totally buy that.
I picked up lots of fun products to use, I think my favorite is the Monopoly game; I’m always excited for new ways to play the game. Second favorite…the Hulk gloves. Also a big hit with the kids. Literally. That too, comes later.
- Because it is all about the super heros, I set up a DIY hero sandwich bar with all the fixings for dinner. It is a great way to take the load off of you as a hostess and keep the kids busy taking care of themselves.
- With bright tissue poms, fans and lanterns hanging over the table, it set the perfect scene and tied in well with striped wrapping paper I used as a table cover.
- If you aren’t a baker or fancy food maker, don’t worry. There are no complicated foods here. I purchased Rice Krispies Treats and dipped them in candy melt and sprinkled on Geeky Sprinkles’ lightning bolt sprinkles.
- I am currrently obsessed with Pillsbury Funfetti cupcake mixes…seriously, the colors are amazing. My tip…make your cupcakes the day before because the colors become richer and more saturated. The same when you tint frosting. I swear by Americolor soft gel paste. You can find them at specialty baking supply stores and online retailers like Amazon.
- Wrapping paper is one of my favorite decorating mediums! Not only do they make great table coverings but are fabulous for a backdrop. This roll was perfect behind our Hulk Punch drink station.
Swooping in for the kill…Captain America didn’t have a chance!
- How does one keep elementary and middle school kids entertained through movies they have seen? You do some research and create movie quizzes with fun prizes like posters and boxes of cupcakes.
- You also put out Avengers Monopoly and watch grown boys fight over it.
- I love to mix popcorn with other snack foods like pretzels and fun Avengers Cheez-Its. White popcorn boxes get in on the super hero spirit with a little washi tape. This makes a perfect post-dinner movie-watching snack.
Here’s a great way to get you started…download Super Heroes Assemble through iTunes and Google Play and turn your phone into a portal to exclusive movie content and keep up to date with the latest movie and behind-the-scenes action.
