Farm To Table Inspired Tablescape

When the Alt Summit powers that be created a contest to win tickets to their summer conference, I was all over it.  They are throwing an outdoor Picnic Party and are looking for teams to design one element to add to the party. Our idea, a farm to table inspired tablescape as a backdrop to their picnic fare.

We wanted to reflect the importance of using locally sourced ingredients to create eco-chic centerpieces that cut down on waste. We want to create a green tablescape that welcomes guests to dine with fresh produce from local farmers’ markets! The best part? This idea is perfect for any summer outdoor event and the veggies can be used later or donated to local food banks and shelters.

• Don’t be afraid to mix and match different types of vessels and cake stands.  From glassware to berry baskets, everything is fair game.
• The secret to a pretty tablescape, create a focal point and build around it.  I used a compote to create a pretty display with cauliflower, Brussels sprouts and kale leaves.
• Long vegetables are great for standing in tall glasses and vases…display them like you would flowers.
• Nestle smaller vegetables like peppers and cherry tomatoes in berry baskets and low bowls to show off their shape and colors.
