In a galaxy far, far, away
The new Star Wars movie Star Wars: The Clone Wars opens next Friday, and my oldest has been sweating me to go see it. If you didn’t know, he’s a Star Wars fanatic; we’ve had the birthday party, he has the toys, all 6 movies, the megabook, the Lego video games, the voice changer, the bank, you name it, we probably have it (except the bedding, can’t go there).
So, in honor of this auspicious day, planning a party seemed appropriate. So, besides mine, there are a ton of ideas at Birthday Party Ideas. If you haven’t discovered this place, head right on over, and stat!
Check out the official Star Wars site for great tips and ideas.
Have a movie-viewing party and take a small group to check out the film. Many theaters have party packages, like Regal Cinemas. Check out Party America for Clone Wars party supplies, decor and favors to trick out your party room.
For a home party, set up a Jedi training course where guests run an obstacle course with tires, ropes, 2×4 boards, etc. Or have light saber training; before the party, make a light saber for each player using foam pipe insulation or skinny swimming noodles. Wrap one end with colored electrical tape to make a handle. With several inflated balloons, the object of the game is to keep the balloon off the ground using only the light sabers.
For background music, we played John Williams Conducts Music From The Star Wars Saga which is music from the original trilogy, but you can also score with Star Wars: The Clone Wars Soundtrack, when it drops on Tuesday.
For great party food ideas and recipes, check out Wookie Cookies: A Star Wars Cookbook and Star Wars Cookbook II: Darth Malt and More Galactic Recipes. You know you want to learn how to make Darth Double Dogs and Boba Fett-uccine. Plus, the pictures are too good to miss.
Burn a CD of your music to send guests home with, or save a little cash and send them home with a noodle-saber.

seems like the Star Wars franchise has been somewhat worn out, but still, Clone Wars looks fun to watch
