Minions’ Winter Yeti-land Movie-Watching Party
As fans of Illumination Entertainment’s Despicable Me movies, we were so excited for the summer release of Minions© 2015 Universal Studios, all rights reserved, and celebrated with a pre-movie cereal parfait bar. Now, our favorite summer movie is on Blu-Ray/DVD, which means it’s time for another movie-watching party, which I’m excited to share.
Tiny movie spoiler ahead…since it is wintertime, I thought it would be perfect to create a winter Yeti-land to pay homage to the minions’ time serving a Yeti, before his very unfortunate demise. Â I’m going to show you how to recreate what I’ve done for your own movie-watching party!
First, you need the movie…head to the Minions movie website so you can find out where you can purchase the Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack.  There are so many fun versions like this adorable movie tin.
Now, let’s set the scene…
- Head to your favorite fabric store for cotton batting to create your tablecover. Â It is relatively inexpensive when you are armed with a coupon.
- Cotton balls are a fun way to decorate your winter scene with ‘snowballs’; I used a large bag for my tablescape and Igloo Cupcake cart.
- White and clear tableware are a must, but don’t forget yellow and blue accents…this is a minions party after all.Â

- Reusable partyware like foam and plastic snowflakes and honeycomb shapes can be found at your favorite party or dollar store. Â I even found pre-cut paper chain strips! It was a serious time-saver; the holidays aren’t about slaving away on every little detail.
- I love white china for entertaining, it makes your food stand out. Â But it is by no means boring; with an edible food marker, it can be easily personalized with a guest’s name, holiday sentiments, or in our case, our favorite quotes from the movie.
- We had fun coming up with our menu! I drizzled yellow and blue candy melts over popcorn and before it cooled, added yellow and blue candy and sprinkles.
- Of course we had to have snowballs (powdered doughnut holes) and coordinating vintage soda bottles.
- Our favorite treat, minions’ Cracked Ice! It is so easy to make and the kids will love to help you make it. Â Once you see the movie, you will totally get how it refers to the Yeti…
What You’ll Need
small candy eyes
3/4 cup mini marshmallows
large baking sheet
parchment paper
1. Â In a large microwavable bowl, melt the candy melt until smooth, Â according to the package’s microwave directions.
2. Cover your baking sheet or cutting board with parchment paper.
3. Â Pour the melted candy onto the parchment paper, and using a spatula, spread it into an even layer about 1/4-inch thick.
4. Â Sprinkle your hard candy, mini marshmallows and candy eyes on top, making sure to gently press in the larger items.
5. Â Place the baking sheet into the refrigerator to chill for about 20 minutes until the candy has fully hardened.
6. Â Remove the candy from the refrigerator and carefully slide it onto a cutting board. Cut the candy into irregularly shaped pieces.
You can serve some at the party and send the rest home as party favors.
- Every party I host has an activity and no snow-themed party is complete without igloos.
- I set up an igloo cupcake station so everyone could make their own.  I discovered a super cute DIY covering a cupcake with whipped cream and mini marshmallows that is sure to bring a giggle to even the adults…you know they are going to want to make one so be sure to have plenty of supplies on hand.
- The silly minions are just jumbo marshmallows dipped in candy melts with candy eyes added with a dab of melted candy.
Once the treats are enjoyed, load up your popcorn boxes and enjoy the movie!

I have never thought to make customized plates like that with edible markers. They add such a cool flair and perfect for the Minions movie. I love your focus on the Yeti villain – such a fun twist on this party theme! #client
