Real Party – Create A Minions Cereal Parfait Bar
Are you excited for the release of Minions on July 10th? We certainly are! Where did they come from? What were they like before Gru of the Depiscable Me movies? ย Who knew there was a minions/henchmen industry?
How about getting your little minions and their friends together before a matinee showing with a cereal parfait bar?
At Walmart, you will find everything you need to put together a fun and healthy start to a busy day. Pick up specially marked packages of General Mills cereal and collect all 7 Minion toys that include the movie’s Stuart, Bob and Kevin. Plus, it’s the only place you will find the special prehistoric Minion.
We didn’t find the special Minion this time around…but the others are just as fun!
When I was a kid, my mom wasn’t a box cereal fan (which probably explains my love for them)…so on those rare occasions that she purchased one, we kids went a little crazy. ย We used to dump out the entire box into a huge bowl in our anticipation for the toy inside…we didn’t want to eat the cereal first.
Mom got tired of that, so we had to eat all the cereal down. That only made it worse because we were fighting over who would finish it and find the toy! Oh…I think the question of why my mom didn’t buy a lot of cereal was just answered.
So of course, I love to have fun with cereal. ย I love parfaits because they are so easy to create and customize with your favorite yogurt flavors and fruit toppings. Guests can mix and match to their heart’s desires.
Some kids may be a little unsure about eating cereal without milk, but once they start layering cereal and fruit, their apprehension goes down a little. ย Plus, who can resist mini Trix and Cocoa Puffs in any form?
I used strawberry and vanilla yogurt, but if you really want to theme them up, add a few drops of yellow or blue food coloring to vanilla yogurt.
Have a little presentation fun by pouring your cereal into glass containers with handwritten labels. ย I used my fun mini picture frames but creating your own tent cards work just as well. ย Just fold short pieces of paper or cardstock and use your best handwriting.
Yellow and blue honeycomb balls can be foundย hereย at one of my favorite party retailers. ย You can score on striped straws similar to mine at this shop. ย Although, my striped lanterns are no longer available,ย hereย you can find similar, although larger ones.
Clear cups are great for showcasing the parfait’s layers, but ice cream cups are a fun option too, especially if they coordinate with our color scheme; ย I purchased mine from thisย party shop.ย
I used my stash of beakers and flasks as a little nod to their future boss…do an online search for great places find inexpensive glass sets.
I hope you have been inspired to have some pre-movie fun for the new Minions movie! Be sure and look for The 7th Minion, available only at Walmart.
Do you plan on seeing the movie or hosting a Minions themedย party? I would love to hear what you are going to do, it will be a hot party theme this summer! This cereal parfait bar is perfect for breakfast if you do a birthday sleepover.
