Color Wedding – Falling Into Orange and Brown
We are moving into fall, the leaves are turning beautiful shades of orange and gold, and being invited to my first fall wedding has inspired me to tread into unknown and obsessive territory known as wedding planning. Never having a formal wedding myself, I feel the need to tap into that whispery part that is always saying “coulda, shoulda, woulda” and see what I could find. the knot is a veritable cornucopia of wedding details, ideas and a buttload of galleries. Some of my favorites….
Paper McLovin
Save the date cards in brown with white ink. Orange ticket stubs announce a “Wedding Day Double Feature”. Escort cards are secured to miniature pumpkins.
The bride and her entourage
The bride kept things simple and used only one type of flower for the celebration: burnt orange calla lilies. I love how comfortable the bridesmaids look in these cocktail-length dresses. Not only are they elegant but can be worn for another occasion. A beautiful boutonniere of a calla lilies, rose, orchid, and peach-hued berries.
The table is the thing
These napkins in chocolate brown and ivory were tied off with handmade twine napkin rings and tags with the coupleโs names and wedding date. Pocket-style programs hang from the back of each chair. I think the vodka makes these low centerpieces even more irresistible.
Mmm…yummy….
It may not be a cupcake, but I’m loving this three-tiered chocolate wedding cake decorated with warm autumn-colored leaves. These miniature cakes wrapped with fondant in different patterns to look like presents topped each reception table and acted as centerpieces. I don’t know what this orange cocktail is, but I’ll take two!
Setting the tone
The couple suspended nine garlands of marigolds, bittersweet, and oak leaves from the ceiling and surrounded the area with six raised tables covered in candles creating an “altar” they were married in front of. Tables alternated between large cylinder vases filled with oncidium and mokara orchids accented with lily grass and brown sunflowers and a trio of cylinder vases with submerged orchids and calla lilies. Large, grass-filled terra cotta pots were painted gold, filled with bunches of faux grass, and tied off by a gold silk ribbon.
Send them home with a smile
Green Granny Smith apples were dipped in caramel and then drizzled with milk and white chocolate. My favorite part; the monogrammed tags on the apples also told guests where to sit, letting the favors do double duty as escort cards.
