Remember when you opened a brand-new box of crayons, and could sit and color and not have a care in the world? We should bring those days back…with a drink in hand. When I came across this amazing coloring book at Target, it was the perfect starting point for a day/night in. Read on for tips on how to host a color and sip party.

Whether it’s a girls’ night out, or a Mother’s Day brunch…time with your best gals is always a good time, especially when it involves drinking and coloring.
When I host a get-together, I want it to feel special and homemade, without spending too much time pulling everything together. Having a ‘main attraction’ is always the best place to focus your creative energy. This beautiful Caprese salad platter hits all of my marks; easy presentation and everyone can self-serve. It is perfect as an appetizer or a main dish with mini baguettes and macarons to round things out.

As always, platters and boards are less of a recipe and more of an assembly of your favorite items. Feel free to switch things around to your heart’s content, and use what is seasonally available. Check out my suggestions below, what I used in bold.
- arugula, spinach leaves, or other salad greens
- mozzarella cheeses like burrata, and ciliegine
- campari, heirloom, cherry, or cocktail tomatoes
- cured meats like prosciutto, coppa, soppressata and dry salami
- fruit such as sliced peaches and pears, raspberries, or strawberries
- nuts like roasted almonds and pinenuts
- kalamata or stuffed olives
- fresh basil
- salad toppings like lemon-flavored extra virgin olive oil, balsamic glaze, or pesto
- Himalayan sea salts, flavored salts, and freshly ground black pepper

You know I love a bar setup! I gathered the cocktail items on my favorite mirror to create an easy countertop bar setup. From wine and prosecco to elderflower liqueur, we had a little of everything. A perfect bar area should be simple and well-organized with spirits, bar tools, glasses, garnishes, and mixers.
With so many great recipe options in the coloring book, it was fun picking and choosing pages that most people are unfamiliar with. It’s a fabulous way to find new drinks to try out.

The right tunes always set the party mood; here are a few playlist suggestions:
