A great weekend and a great museum
We spent the weekend with our friend Rose and her family out in Centralia, and of course, leaving on a Friday at 4:30 p.m meant that we would be hitting all the insanity that was getting ready for Seafair. But the boy had camp and we had to wait. So a 2 hour drive became a 4 hour one (well, 1 hour for dinner as well). But as always, it was worth it, the whole gang is a hoot! Plus I got to finally meet the baby we had the baby shower for.
While we were there, we checked out the Hands On Children’s Museum, which after having the gold standard of the Seattle museum and our own amazing museum, we were quite impressed with HOCM. It had great exhibits, and we just didn’t have enough time to experience everything. But I am a loser, and didn’t take my camera, so no pictures, but definitely next time.
And since there is always time for shopping, our forays took us to Tar-jay, which has the cutest dresses out, nice and cas, you can dress them up or down. And since I haven’t had a new article of clothing in ages, I got this dress in grey. Just one, I’m on a budget you know…Now I need some kicking red flats, probably patent leather, would make this a perfect outfit.
I do love patent leather, I had a pair of black high-heeled Mary Janes back in the day, which I would wear with EVERY clubbing outfit. I purposely bought going-out clothes that I could wear my shoes with, so I was going through a “black” phase. Pair those shoes with knee-high stockings? I was too hot. (Did I mention it was the mid-90’s and Clueless was my fashion Bible?) So anyways, I’m on a mission to find my red shoes.
Speaking of the 90’s, one night we were sitting around gabbing while watching Pulp Fiction. Can’t watch that movie enough, and Rose had not watched it all. She’s a youngster and her husband and I had already seen it many, many times, quoting it, giving her pointers, etc. etc. We came in at “The Gold Watch”. If you’ve seen the movie, you know what it is, if you haven’t, go get it now!
Ah, Samuel L. Jackson can do no wrong. I can’t think of one movie I’ve seen him do, where I can say his performance sucks. The man did Snakes on a Plane and Star Wars!! The man’s acting portfolio is diverse to say the least, in his 60+ films, he’s played crack heads, assassins, a vengeful father, Shaft, an NSA agent, and voiced a character in The Incredibles.
There goes my crazy train of thought again. My husband is a Marine reservist, so we were in Ft. Lewis for Family Fun Day where we got the chance to dunk daddy in the dunk tank. In fact, a lot of people tried to dunk him; at $1/3 balls, he made $26!
