Create a The Nut Job 2 Movie Snack Bar
This is a sponsored post; payment, trade and/or products have been received in exchange for promotion for Allied Integrated Marketing and as always, all opinions are my own.
The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature opens nationwide today! When our friends at Allied Integrated Marketing invited us to check out an advanced screening, we were game! Surly Squirrel (Will Arnett) and the gang are back, featuring the voices of Katherine Heigl, Jackie Chan, Bobby Cannavale, Maya Rudolph and more.
We are once again in Oakton where the evil mayor has decided to bulldoze Liberty Park and build a dangerous amusement park in its place. Surly and his ragtag group of animal friends band together to save their home, defeat the mayor, and take back the park.
The film offers great thought starters for families to begin a dialogue about second chances, friendship, teamwork and seeing the good in others. After all, we all mess up. But, going back and trying to make things right, asking for help and getting by with a little help from my friends (thanks, Joe Cocker!) is always a good thing. We absolutely loved the character of Mr. Feng (Chan) and his trigger-word, “Don’t call me cute!!”…I think my youngest totally relates.
What better way to celebrate friendship than getting your little nuts together to enjoy a snack bar before or after seeing the movie? Whether gearing up for an afternoon at the movies or winding down afterwards, it’s a great way to enjoy quality time. With a nod to the amusement park theme and Maury’s Nut Shop, making an appearance from the first movie, you can put one together in no time.
- We played off a simple kraft paper covering with carnival-striped detailing like napkins and wrapping drink bottles in paper.
- Real shelled peanuts are perfect for table scatter; you can scoop them up and send them home with guests.
- Label foods with simple black tags and a paint marker.
- Have several fun options for guests to mix and match. Have ‘carrier’ snack items like popcorn, pretzels and crackers, a variety of nuts like peanuts, cashews, almonds, pistachios, and macadamia nuts, peanut inspired sweets like mini peanut butter cups, peanut butter candy, chocolate, dried fruits…whatever is available!
- I won’t spoil it for you, but the climax of the movie involves a flaming Ferris wheel. We did a nod to it by printing a simple design on our bags and handwriting each guests’ names. Need help printing on paper bags? Check out this post…
Horrible but obligatory selfie with the boy…gotta get them in while he still lets me!
I hope you are inspired to host your own The Nut Job 2 snack bar for some movie fun before heading out to the theater! Need more party inspiration? My idol, Oh Happy Day! has a fun modern party take.
