Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children Party Inspiration
The little one and I couldn’t wait for the release ofย Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children last month; we saw it the Friday it opened. ย I predict it will be a popular Halloween theme this season, especially the amazing costumes. ย Today, I’m sharing some party inspiration so you can throw your own peculiar soiree!

If you haven’t read the books (this is the first in the series of three by Ransom Riggs),ย Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Childrenย is a story of a boy whoย follows clues from his grandfather’s old photographs which lead him on an adventure that takes him to a large abandoned orphanage on a Welsh island.
Told with vintage photographs, mind-boggling time loops, dangerous creatures that can only be seen by our conflicted hero, shapeshifters and of course, peculiar children, this dark fantasy story has the perfect makings for an eerie and spooky Halloween.
Don’t worry, no movie spoilers here….

The story’s set atย Miss Peregrine’s home (duh), a gorgeous estate where these painted birdhouses from Better Homes & Gardens are a great and inexpensive way to decorate. ย Find unfinished bird houses at your favorite craft store and update with shades of grey and black paint.

One Peculiar named Hugh has bees living in his stomach; this image fromย Pier-Paolo’sย tumblr account captures his look perfectly.

Serve your beverages in these apothecary decanters from Collier West.

I won’t spoil it for you, but eyeballs play a big role…this recipe from Bakerella is perfect for serving!

I need these creepy doll head candle holders in my life…their faces tell the sad side of captured childhood that is the basis of this series.

Setting the scene withย large wireย birdhouses (another nod to the movie’s shape-shifting Miss Peregrine and her fellowย Ymbrynes) and other vintage elements with this gorgeous setting from The Hostess Blog.

Set up a photo booth area depicting one of the children’s lighter than air peculiarity like this one from Musings From A Writer.

Time is also a huge aspect of the story; Miss Peregrine walks with a beautiful gold pocketย watch. ย Serve these Tick Tock Shortbread cookies with Sainsbury’s Magazine’s recipe.

Send everyone home with a copy of the book…or the second or third book!
There are so many fantastic elements from the book/movie you can use, a sunken ship, turkey, fire, vintage letters, bubbles, a giant carrot…we could go on! You could even turn this into a watch party and head out to see the movie afterwards!
Have you seen the movie or read the book? Or maybe both!
