I’ve been a big fan of compound butter for years; in fact, I didn’t even know they had that fancy name. Â Compound butter is adding flavorful ingredients to regular butter to improve texture and give it a little more kick. Â I’ve been whipping up my own concoctions with spices and herbs to top baked potatoes and spread over salmon and slip under the skins of whole chicken and turkey before baking, to jazzing up dinner rolls. But that has only been on the savory side!

Today, we are looking to make breakfast sweeter with three simple compound butters. Â Created with two different mix-ins, get everyone started on a great day with a few sweet options. Â From topping bagels, waffles, toast, muffins and more these are so much better than ho-hum plain butter…
As a spread, Gold ‘n Soft is a better alternative to butter when making compound butter.  Not only is it easier to blend your mix-ins, it has the great taste of butter with no cholesterol, hydrogenated oils and zero trans fats per serving.  The Butter Blends are made with better-for-you oils, and made with 51% Real Grade AA butter but spreadable and easier to use.

Our three easy recipes, Honey Cinnamon, Orange Vanilla and Strawberry Mint butter, don’t need fancy tools (well, except for a zester!) and can be whipped up in the morning. I, however, would suggest the night before so the flavors can really blend.
First, I head to WinCo for a few ingredients and breakfast is done in a snap. I love to go there because of their awesome bagel selections, Â from triple berry to cheese-topped to chocolate chip!

Recipe Notes
Optional: Let your butter(s) sit for about 30 minutes (or overnight) in the refrigerator to allow the flavors to blend.

So yummy and easy to make! Â The best part, you can play around with your own flavor combinations. Â You can adjust my suggestions or add more mix-ins. Â For every one you add in, lower the amounts of all the mix-ins. Â It doesn’t take long to overwhelm the buttery taste of the spread. Â We want to enhance it not mask it.

Check out our Orange Vanilla! The zest gives it a real citrus ping!

Mmmm….look at those flecks of cinnamon…
