Still Keeping Things Hot – S’mores and Cocoa Bar + Free Printables

Celebrating an autumn anniversary? Fall means s’mores and hot cocoa…two of my favorite things! They are the perfect way to celebrate with a Still Keeping Things Hot theme, complete with hot cocoa bar. Plus, I’m sharing a super easy DIY to make your own vintage thermos magnets.

Small group celebrations can still be special, whether it’s just the happy couple or with close family and friends. Take advantage of a crisp fall day in your backyard or at a local park.

You know I love a good pun; a hot cocoa bar to showcase my vintage Thermos collection and a s’mores bar with lots of tasty options could not be a better fall theme. And celebrate your anniversary, of course…

Let’s start with my party inspiration, the DIY magnets! I have been itching to make my own magnets since I now have a variety of magnetic chalk and whiteboards. They are a great way to personalize signage and of course, throw them up on your fridge when the event is over.

What You’ll Need:

  • 8 ½” x 11″ magnetic sheet (I used this one from Staples)
  • my thermos printables downloaded (click here or on the image below)
  • printer (be sure your magnetic sheet matches your printer type, i.e. inkjet vs laser)
  • sharp scissors
  1. Load and print onto the magnetic sheet according to its packaged directions. This will include changing your printer settings to accommodate for the thickness and sheen of the magnetic sheet. For example, my sheet has a glossy sheen, so I changed my settings to Other Printer Paper/Best.
  2. Make sure your print is completely dry, then cut the images out, leaving a small white margin around each.

I know, right? How easy is this?

Make hot cocoa even more fun with a variety of mix-ins, metal mugs (safer for the outdoors), and wood utensils.

  • long wafer cookies
  • flavored baking chips
  • crushed peppermint candy
  • chocolate shavings
  • chocolate straws
  • sprinkles
  • whipped cream
  • mini marshmallows

I do love the classic s’more combo but don’t be afraid to shake things up! I love the idea of putting out different cookies, fillings, and gourmet marshmallows to kick up our treats to the next level!

There are so many options out there, you are only limited by what you can find. For instance, check out my post for Moms & Munchkins that has lots of s’mores ideas to get you inspired. I used a few on this table:

Base cookie

  • chocolate chip cookies
  • graham crackers
  • lemon cookies

Chocolates

  • chocolate pieces
  • peppermint patties
  • chocolate and white chocolate peanut butter cups

Fillings

  • lemon curd
  • raspberry preserves
  • caramel sauce
  • hot fudge sauce
  • peanut butter
  • rose jam

Look around your home and round up blankets and wraps so you can keep everyone warm.

Enjoying the outdoors with a small group of family and friends, enjoying a hot cocoa bar and s’mores, is a wonderful way to spend a fall evening! You can never go wrong with a fire, tasty treats, and lots of love!
