Chicks, Flicks, and Brunch for Galentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is about celebrating those you love, from family to friends. It’s why I love Galentine’s Day even more…especially when it means combining with my love of brunch and time with friends. But with time at a premium, it’s all about keeping things chic and festive without a ton of complicated decor items. Even more fun, make it an afternoon of chicks, flicks and brunch! What’s better than drinks and watching girl power on screen?
Keeping with the theme of quick and easy, this brunch is all about the easy bites, unfussy decor and fun drinks.
I love my pink faux rug, it has made a fabulous table runner for a variety of parties! Topped with white platters and bowls, they are a perfect contrast of smooth and fuzzy. My only other table decor is a vase of pink roses and hydrangeas.
You know I am all about the store-bought fare when it comes to quick and easy; we are serving up bagels, parfaits, lemon pizzelle cookies, a cocoa bar and rosé grapefruit mimosas, and a lovely white cake with raspberry filling.
It’s not brunch if there are no mimosas. But instead of the traditional recipe of orange juice and champagne, mix things up with different bubbly and juice. I set up a simple bar with rosé champagne and pink grapefruit juice, with grapefruit slices for garnish.
A hot cocoa bar with fun mix-ins like pink marshmallows and crushed peppermint is always a party win! Don’t forget the themed paper cups for less dishes to wash.
My favorite part, the cake! So, everyone knows, I don’t bake cakes. I head to my favorite grocery store bakery, order a frosted cake with no embellishments and do the rest. When Bakers Party Shop revealed their new Valentine Stickies™ edible stickers, I knew I had to have them. With heart quins and sprinkles, and finished with roses, our easy-to-decorate cake is party ready in no time.
Another fun, no-bake recipe, cake gems! I used this silicone gem mold to cast candy shells, then filled them with a cake pop mixture made with pound cake and strawberry frosting. I’m sorry, I should have a picture of the inside…but I don’t.
I used edible paint to paint the hearts red….it’s way harder than I thought it would be. But I like the unfinished look…
Giant lips balloons are all you need to set the scene. And a TV. I did cover my existing holiday signs with wrapping paper since my original paper decor installation idea didn’t happen. Big plans were in the work, but apparently a full day of work and home life equals not enough hours in my day.
