Candy Fried Eggs For Easter
This week on Instagram, I got to playing with plastic Easter eggs in ombre shades. ย Then a light bulb went off and I remembered I have thisย awesome candy mold that has a fried egg cavity…candy fried eggs for Easter! Yes, I have a candy mold for everything…I may or may not have a few bins worth…

Then the wheels really started spinning and I thought ‘Hmm…I can take this a step further! I can use my fried egg design from my Easter tattoos and I could tweak it into custom treat bags.

My boys are older and doing Easter egg hunts are a thing of the past. ย So, I found a way to still have some egg fun and something they could share with their friends that would actually want to share.
It was easy to print the design on 5 X 7 white paper bags (check out this post to learn how) and add a candy friend egg or two.
You are probably wondering how I colored the egg yolks. ย It’s all about melting the appropriate color and ‘painting’ the yolk cavity with a pointy, plastic tool. ย My weapon of choice is a plastic knife. ย The bigger trick is covering the rest of it with white candy melt after the yolk cools and solidifies. ย If the white melt is too warm, it will also heat up the ‘yolk’ and cause the color to melt again and ย bleed the color into the white candy. ย Let the white melt cool to lukewarmish, then fill the cavity, taping carefully to loosen any air bubbles.
I know, April Fool’s has already passed so bookmark this idea for next year! ย Or maybe you are thinking about making green eggs and ham for Dr. Seuss Day? ย Breakfast party favors? I know, lots of ideas…do you have any ideas for candy fried eggs?
