The Party Hop: Summer Fiesta DIY Taco Invitation/Balloon Party Bar/DIY Papel Picado
We’ll be having fun and partying fiesta DIY all week as part of Sara of Confetti Sunshine’s Summer Fiesta Party Hop. She brought a group of creative party-loving bloggers to collaborate together and make one fabulous party full of DIY and inspirational party goodness!
Last year, I was thrilled to be part of her A Handmade Holiday Party Hop with my ornament drink bottles.
This time around, we are channeling sandy beaches, fruity drinks and crystal clear water of some fabulous sunny locale I wish I were at right now. We are going to get you ready for Cinco De Mayo, tropical themed graduation parties, summer bashes, or just-because-I-need-to-play-with-fringe.
Today I’m sharing my contribution, DIY taco invitations! Because, every great party starts with an awesome invite.
I have always loved Paper Source’s hamburger invites and thought to myself, ‘Self, you could do the same thing with a taco’. And I did…I went to my local Paper Source and picked up some of their yummy paper…
5 1/2″ circle cards (in paper bag and chocolate)
8 1/2โณ x 11โณ cover paper (in curry, clover and red )
For the taco shell: fold a paper bag circle card in half.
For the fillings:
Taco meat – Trim a chocolate circle card in half.
Lettuce – Cut a 3″ X 6″ strip of clover paper. Fit inside the taco shell and trim a wavy cut around the clover’s edges.
Cheese – Cut a 3″ X 6″ strip of curry paper. Fit inside the taco shell and trim a zig-zaggy cut around the curry paper, making sure it is a shorter cut around than the lettuce.
Tomato – Punch a 3″ circle of red paper and cut circle in half.
To assemble:
Adhere the ‘tomato’ halves to the inside front of the ‘taco’, be sure they both peek out a little.
Adhere the ‘taco meat’ over the tomatoes, again little peekage.
Write your messages on the ‘cheese’ and ‘lettuce’ layers and insert.
Mail cuteness and wait for all the RSVPs to roll in…who’s gonna say no to such a cool invitation?
Speaking of coolness, you should now party hop over to…
…our party hostess Confetti Sunshine for her Balloon Party Bar…
…then head over to Frog Prince Paperie and check out her DIY papel picado!
Come check us out tomorrow for more summer fiesta fun with DIY decor ideas.

The invite is very creative and looks like lots of patience was involved!
Thanks Sandra! And no, it is so easy peasy! It would have been even easier if I could have found my scallop scissors…
Such a clever idea! ๐
