Tuesday Tip – Take one LBD, a dash of color, and call me in the morning

In honor of the feeding frenzy surrounding dressing Michelle Obama for her husband’s inauguration next month (check out this slideshow of potentials from Women’s Wear Daily), I thought a post on holiday dressing up seemed appropriate.

Holiday events aren’t on the scale of inaugural balls, but they are just as stressful (no one wants to be the (bad) office-cooler talk on Monday!) The LBD (little black dress) is usually the default outfit. Don’t be afraid to spice it up with a little color (no reds and greens, please!) and it will go a long way.

Freshen up your LBD with the Kendra Scott multi-jeweled cuff or these Martine Wester turquoise drop earrings, these beautiful heels, or with a blue leather clutch. Or ditch the dress altogether and pair this scoop neck ruched front tank top from Wet Seal with black pants and sparkly flats.
Christmas orange ensembles
Bling out with the Kendra Scott Banana Jade cognac quartz flower ring. Can’t you just envision this bead necklace on a black turtleneck, or with these orange flats? A beautiful evening purse with an elaborate hand-stitched traditional Mongolian motif embroidered on a satin finish fabric.
purple ensembles

These purple pumps are to die for. If you are daring, these stockings are rocking, as well as bringing sexy back with the pillbox hat. Arrive in style with C3 Concept’s cashmere dip dye beanie & scarf

pink ensembles

Add a splash of dazzle with a pink Swarovski crystal rose brooch or a Rachel Reinhardt pink enamel bracelet. Ridiculously cute pink pumps from Betseyville. The funky Clair belt is the perfect accessory, just wrap around your waist and you’re ready to go.
