The Easiest Way To Celebrate Everyday Moments

Is one of your New Year’s resolutions spending more quality time with that special someone? Are you looking for the easiest way to celebrate a everyday moment, from finishing a big project on time to celebrating the A on the worked-hard-and-studied-for test to It’s-A-Tuesday-And-Everyone-Is-Home?
Using Bertolli’sย new family-sized skillet mealsย available at Kroger and their banner stores, keep reading on how you can create a fabulous Italian meal with no real cooking involved, which means more time for bonding and having a great evening!
For most of us, dinnertime is the only meal everyone is home for, so use it to celebrate those special everyday moments. ย Mangia translates to eat, the Italian way, family-style with lots of food and drink and love. ย Trust me, it does not take a lot to make it a special night.
I love fresh flowers, but they can be quite expensive during the winter months. ย A great alternative, using vegetables as a centerpiece. ย Since we are serving our dinner family-style, a simple table runner and a cluster of kale leaves keeps our table pretty and with plenty of room.
In general, pasta recipes are easy to make, but having everything done in one skillet is so amazing. ย I served Bertolli’s Italian Sausage and Rigatoni and Chicken Florentine and Farfalle and both were a hit. ย Topped with fresh parmesan and cilantro, no one needs to know you didn’t make it from scratch.
Accompanying our meal, a winter salad of kale, red cabbage, shredded cucumber, dried cranberries and my new salad obsession, pomegranate seeds.
- Zinfandel
- Dolcetto
- Chianti
Pair with white sauce dishes to cut through the richness of the sauce
- Sauvignon Blanc
- Italian Chardonnay
- Pinot Grigio
The perfect finish to our mangia meal; pizzelle (Italian wafer cookies) ice cream sandwiches…the easiest treat you will ever make.
What You’ll Need:
Pizzelle cookies
vanilla ice cream
chocolate hazelnut spread
sprinkles
wax paper
round cookie cutter sized a little smaller than your cookies (optional)
1. ย Remove the ice cream from the freezer and let soften about 15 minutes.
2. ย You can use different methods to create the sandwich. ย If you want to eat them right away, scoop your softened ice cream onto your first pizzelle cookie taking care to not press too hard spreading it around the cookie.
3. ย Gently spread the chocolate hazelnut spread on the second cookie and gently press on top of the first cookie.
4. ย Roll your sandwich in your sprinkles and set in the freezer on a plate or cutting board. ย Repeat with the remaining cookies.
5. ย If you have some time and a round cookie cutter like me, line a baking pan with wax paper and spread the softened ice cream into the pan, smoothing with a rubber spatula. (I didn’t fill my pan up completely, since I was only making a few…)
6. ย Return the pan to the freezer to harden for about an hour.
7. ย Remove from freezer and use your round cookie cutter to cut slices of ice cream and place gently on a cookie.
8. ย Continue on with steps 3 and 4.
Yes, it was as all as delicious as it looks and it was so nice to make a special meal for my family that was easy to plan, prep and serve. ย Find Bertolli items (and everything else your meal needs) at some of the lowest prices of the year in a Kroger or Kroger banner storeย near you.
