With spring around the corner and COVID restrictions lifting, let’s talk about planning the perfect gathering to ramp up your spring entertaining game! It’s still chilly in our part of the world, so we are celebrating spring indoors. But now, there’s no better excuse to break out vintage pieces for a simple spring tabletop.
Easy entertaining is all about simple sophistication; a quick table cover, a few florals, and pretty tableware set the stage. When it comes to the details, it’s all about making your guests feel special and welcome, but not stressing yourself out.

Let’s set the scene with a lovely pop of color. I will forgo my usual wrapping paper and used a large, gorgeous print silk scarf as a table covering. Mine from Tuckernuck is no longer available, so check out a couple of alternatives:
My favorite cotton buffet napkins from World Market; I have them in so many shades. They no longer carry this green but there are plenty of other colors to choose from.

And since we’re styling for spring, fresh blooms is an absolute must! Although I love Trader Joe’s for their variety of florals, you can’t beat your local Costco’s florals for pricing and availability. I’ve got to be at my TJ’s early, otherwise, their selection is well picked over. How can one resist $18.99 for 2 dozen pink roses?
Speaking of Trader Joe’s, I always have a box of their macarons in the freezer, 30 minutes or less to thaw out and you have an instant treat.

Although my version of Lord Byron’s Kitchen’s Puff Pastry Cream Cheese Fruit Tarts is not as pretty, they taste amazing! Plated on a vintage cabbage leaf plate, don’t they just scream spring? My plate was a thrift store find but you can find similar plates at Anthropologie.

What’s a better way to welcome back warmer weather, than everyone’s favorite party girl, rosé? Fill up a drink or party bucket with your faves, with plenty of glasses for self-service. I love these all-purpose wine glasses from World Market; they are quality at an affordable price.

When I found a set of Spode Willow plates from the Georgian Blue Room Collection at my local vintage store, my heart skipped a beat. I have been on the hunt for all things blue and white, and the price was an unbelievable steal.
Sidebar, I have found my peoples, and they go by the name Grandmillenials. I am not by any means a millennial, but the modern blending of vintage items is my jam. I’ve been collecting vintage glassware and cake stands for years, and have grown to love chinoiserie, ginger jars, cabbage leaf plates, and florals. Basically, what your ‘grandmother’ would be into. But I’m a grandma, so it all works.
