I can’t even believe that it is time to start thinking about back to school shoppingโ€ฆfrom clothing to lunches, it is my favorite/least favorite time of year. Yay, they are going back! Boo on all the shopping that needs to be done.

Make Lunch Easy With Foster Farms

This year, my boys are starting middle and high school and the little one will be packing his own lunches this year. I need to have plenty of things on hand to make lunch-packing nutritious and easy to pack. I’ve shared how Foster Farms makes breakfast easy, now they want to do the same for lunch.

Sandwiches are a household staple, so I’m excited to partner with Foster Farms and share their newest product, Foster Farmsยฎ All Natural Lunchmeat. Since 1987, all Foster Farmsยฎ fresh chicken sold in my fair Pacific Northwest have been grown and raised right here in Washington and Oregon, so this new product is only available in at Safeway, Raleyโ€™s, Vonโ€™s and select Albertsonโ€™s in California, Oregon and Washington.

As always, it is all natural, nitrite free, no preservatives, hormones or steroids. With 35% lower sodium, 100% taste, Foster Farmsยฎ All Natural Lunchmeat stands out from the lunchmeat crowd because it uses high pressure pasteurization to eliminate bacteria and seal in pure flavor instead of using natural preservatives.

And because it does not contain wheat, milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts or soy, moms of gluten and allergy sensitive kids have one less thing to worry about with lunch.

Since this post is all about making packing a lunch easy, I’m sharing a few great sandwich lunch ideas. I’m always looking for other options besides sandwich bread, we’ve mixed it up using everything from tortilla wraps and pita bread to mini bagels and English muffins.

With younger kids, smaller portions are always a plus. La Panette bread is perfect for making crostini and dipping in fondue, but I bet you’ve never thought of turning them into mini sandwiches!

Along with a simple cocktail skewer (no sharp ones, of course), you can a fun way to make a plain old sandwich one they would gladly eat everyday!

Even if your child loves eating sandwiches everyday, you can make it different and fun every time!

  • Have a stash of leftover printed napkins from a party? Donโ€™t hoard them, use them to bring a little color and fun to your childโ€™s lunch box!
  • Think outside the mayonnaise jar; hummus, guacamole, cream cheese, and garlic spreads are fabulous ways to punch up a sandwich, both in taste and nutrition.
  • Be sure and include healthy options like fruit and veggies you know your child will eat, along with a sweet option.

Yeah, I snuck in a flavored juice blend; that isn’t an option until middle school and EXTREMELY rare for school lunch. Can you imagine what happens to a can after bouncing around a backpack?
