It’s Halloweek! Host A Halloween Chili Bar

It’s day 2 of Halloweek, a whole week of Halloween fun! Yesterday, I shared 10 of my favorite Halloween treats. ย Today, I’m sharing one of my favorite party ideas for Halloween, a chili bar! As the main focus or an add on to an existing party, there is nothing better than a warm bowl of comfort food before heading out into the grueling streets for candy and trinkets. ย I’m over on Moms & Munchkins sharing tips on creating your own chili bar!

One of my suggestions is to use a pan to make bone shaped cornbread but if you don’t have one, you can make your own bone breadsticks with frozen dinner roll dough.

Host a Halloween chili bar; make bone breadsticks

Usually, I’ve used refrigerated breadstick dough, but it appears it has been discontinued. ย So, I found a plan B with frozen Texas dinner roll dough!

Bone Breadsticks

Prep Time 3 hours
Cook Time 15 minutes
Total Time 3 hours 15 minutes
Servings 1 breadstick per person

Ingredients

  • cooking spray
  • 1 bag Rhodes Yeast Texas Rolls found in the frozen pastry section
  • 1 egg white, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Spray a 12-cup muffin tin with cooking spray
  2. Place frozen rolls in pan and cover with plastic wrap sprayed with cooking spray to keep it from sticking to the rolls while rising
  3. Thaw and let rolls rise until soft but still cold, about 3 - 4 hours. Actual time depends on temperature of your kitchen.
  4. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF. Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray.
  5. Carefully remove plastic wrap from muffin tin and take a dough ball out. Flatten roll with the palm of your hand and roll and stretch into a breadstick shape. The dough is pretty thick but it will eventually stretch out.
  6. Loosely tie knot in both ends of each breadstick, then place on cookie sheet.
  7. Brush breadsticks with egg white. Sprinkle with cheese and basil.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm .
