Fiesta Friday/Real Party – Secret Agent teen party
My stepdaughter, E, just turned 15 and originally she wanted a pink party, but after a teen mystery night at our library, she wanted a similar theme, so we combined the two as a secret agent mystery night. All the guests would have a dossier and given a series of clues to meet their contact and figure out who did what, at the birthday party of a very famous heiress, cocktail attire required.
The kids did alot of socializing, and with the other party games, never did figure out who was trying to “kill” the heiress, but they didn’t care.
It was so much fun working on this party, well, mostly because I didn’t have to do the heavy lifting for once. She made the invitations, put up decorations and kept the guests entertained. Hubby and I became “maid” and “bouncer” and kept the food going, and pretty much tried to stay incognito and not hover too much. And we actually were bored, which NEVER happens at our other parties, since we are always running like chickens with no heads. So I got to take a ton of pictures.
Lots of stuff was going on, so I’ll try to go over as much as possible without rambling. I’ll be submitting full party details to a party idea site, so I’ll link that over when I do.
This is a picture without flash, just so you can get the feel, it was lit up so pretty, so all the other photos had to have the flash, those without came out horrible!
Our local Albertson’s rocked on the martini glass cupcake cake. They also did my Rubik’s cube cake (shout out!) It even has some crazy clear sheen on it, to simulate liquid. It looked far better than I expected, and I totally suprised E with it, she wanted something else, but Safeway (boo…) would only stick to what was in the book. She wanted a cupcake crown and they didn’t have that.
Since this is a cocktail party, (after all, isn’t that how it always is in the James Bond movies?) I broke out the martini glasses for our signature mocktail, Apple Ginger Sparklers. Once again, shout outs to Martha for the recipe. A drink recipe with directions helped them concoct their drinks.
I also tied different colored ribbon to the stem of each glass so they wouldn’t get mixed up. I scored on the tuxedo plates from our local dollar store.
The menu, well, had to be simple, they are teens after all. We dipped pink marshmellows and Rice Krispy treats in chocolate, had the yummiest gluten-free chocolate chip cookies (the base is peanut butter and brown sugar, but you would never know!) and a pink berry punch. We renamed all the food, like C.I.A. PB&J for the star-shaped sandwiches.
The centerpiece is just an oversized martini glass with water-pistols spray-painted black, decorative “ice” and our Christmas tree garland. The base of the glass is also covered in “ice”.
They loved their martini glass favors, and couldn’t believe they got to keep the glass, which was filled with candy and a Ring Pop.
