Fiesta Friday/Real Party – Flamingo + Pineapple Party X 2

It’s a Flamingo + Pineapple party all this week on the blog.  Those two are so trendy, summer cool right now, I couldn’t resist getting in on the fun.  I did two shoots in one, a kids’ table and tweaking it a bit for an adult soiree.First it was my inspiration board, then it was pineapple macarons and more pineapple crafts.

Today is the piece de resistance…not one but two party tables. If you haven’t seen it already, head over to Bloom Designs for the kids’ table. I thought it would be fun to show how you take some of the same ideas and tweak them for a more adult feel.

As you can see, from the déjà vu,  I kept the same background elements and a few table elements but did a little tweaking for a more grown up feel.  This is great for those times you want to reuse party items for separate parties that need to go from cutesy to chic.

Printables work for any age party…I didn’t change a thing with Love The Day’s flamingo set.

Whenever I host parties and events, I always keep functionality and the type of guests in mind…

Although cupcakes work for any age group, a pretty cake is more appropriate for adults…sometimes we just want more than just one (cupcake) serving and kids fighting over who has the bigger slice of cake is not cute or fun.  Notice my cupcake toppers work just as well as cake toppers.

Swap out paper plates, napkins and plastic cups for more adult-special plates and glasses.  Don’t be afraid to use the ‘good’ stuff that only comes out on holidays.

A good cocktail is always a must for adults…and if you are serving alcohol, be sure and serve food.  Alcohol on empty stomachs is a serious no-no.  Hardy finger foods like mini tacos and spring rolls are easy to pick up from your favorite grocer or restaurant.

Macarons are universal…I just put them on another cake stand.  Notice in the kids’ version I didn’t use as many cake stands.  Less things to knock over…
…and definitely more fruit!  I love these flamingo picks from Dollar Tree.  I scored the pineapple bowls there too but years ago.

Candy kabobs are universal too…this time I use two kinds from Sweets Indeed.  The palm tree skewers a perfect for those who want a little sweet without feeling guilt and the larger, pineapple ones  for those who say ‘life is too short’. Guess which camp I fall into?

I hope you have been inspired to look at parties a little differently and see how you can use the same party items for a different feel.
