Conkerr Cancer, A Case For Smiles

This coming weekend, we will be joining our amazing children’s museum in creating designer pillow cases that will brighten the hospital rooms of children at the Seattle Children’s Hospital.

In 2002, at the age of 12, Cindy Kerr’s son Ryan was diagnosed with cancer and she began making pillowcases to brighten up his hospital room and to put a smile on his face. He loved it and so she began making pillowcases for the other children in the Oncology Unit. Sadly, in 2008 he lost his battle, but his mother continues her pillowcase project, and in just over two years, ConKerr Cancer has delivered over 110,000 cheerful pillowcases to sick children in hospitals across the country, established 90 chapters serving children in 134 hospitals and pediatric hospices across the United States, Canada and South Africa.

***UPDATE***Here are we are with our proud creation; we each decorated a square of material, chose the pillow’s prints, and since I can’t sew, someone else put it together. We hope it will bring a smile or two, you can never have too many!
