A Great Smartphone Plan For Teenagers

My name is Dawn and I am the mother of a 14 year old high school freshman. ย He is a child of the digital age, however, he has not been allowed to make the smartphone jump…everyone he knows has a โrealโ phone and he has a pay-as-you-go no-data phone that keeps disintegrating.
With his increasingly busy schedule of after school activities, he needs a more dependable phone to keep us in contact. But I am a cautious mom, after all, between the ‘evils’ of teens with smartphones, and not being ready to commit to 2 years of leasing, extra line, data, and everything that goes into it, he might as well have a cup on a string.
So when the opportunity came along to check out the newly launchedย Walmart Family Mobile PLUSย plan, I was game. It would help dad and I let go a little bit and let him take the next step in independance and see how he would do with a better quality phone and a data plan.
With unlimited talk, text and data which includes up to 10GB of 4G LTE plus a free movie on VUDU every month for $49.88, the boy is thrilled that his new Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime looks and functions just like ours. ย Not a bad start to a little more freedom….
He really loves the front-facing camera aspect, something he didn’t have with his last phone…you know kids love the selfie. ย But it isn’t all just fun and games…from working on his website design assignment to online research, it is a great support to his laptop; he keeps his assignment open and does searches on his phone.
We love the idea of getting a free movie once a month as part of the plan; it will definately come in handy for watching on their tablets on road trips.

I feel a little bit better about my teenager with a smartphone…are you a parent thinking about launching your child into the smartphone world? ย We would love to hear your thoughts on the matter…

What a great plan and phone for a teenager – I can imagine he loves the new freedom, but I also like how it will help with school work and projects! #client
