St. Patrick's Day Blogger Party - Felt Cauldrons

Yesterday brought us a fabulous honeycomb garland and today I’m sharing my contributions for gorgeous treat and drink bars,  felt cauldrons filled with gold-sprayed cookies…

The How-To

I found a tutorial for felt baskets on Mar & Vi and thought they would make a cute and classy twist on traditional St. Patrick’s Day cauldrons.  All you will need  6″ squares of black felt (I trimmed mine down from 9″ x 12″ sheets), black baker’s twine and a embroidery needle.

I followed her tutorial, making 3″ long cuts on the diagonals and threaded with the baker’s twine for the ties.  You can’t tell but the cookies are covered with edible spray paint. I was hoping they would be shinier, but I guess I would have had to use real spray paint.  I hear there is such a thing, but it is mad expensive! But oh man, it is awesome!

For the glittered bottles, I used Krylon Metallic spray-paint in gold, Spray Adhesive and Crystal Clear sealer. And cheapo extra fine glitter.

Sidebar, this is not a sponsored plug for Krylon but after using other brands for crafting at various price points, I’m a Krylon girl.  There is nothing worse than having to spray-paint something 3 or 4 times to get an opaque layer versus just once with Krylon paint.

First I spray-painted the bottles…

…then added a layer of adhesive and covered the bottle in glitter.  I finished them off with a spray of Crystal Clear sealer.

Add a cute straw (find the how to here) and drink directly from your blinged out bottle or pour into a fabulous glass. Either way, you can’t go wrong.

  1. I LOVE those glittered bottles! Glittering things can be so frustrating- I love the tip of spray painting them gold first. Thank you SO much for participating in this party! I'm thrilled with how it turned out 🙂

These were such cute ideas- and I love that almost everything in this party can be re-interpreted for other occasions. The bottles would be perfect for NYE or an Oscar Night Party…so fun! (And isn't that picture of Colleen sipping from one THE BEST! What a babe!) xoxo!
