Holiday 2020 is not going to be typical. Just like everything else in the world, the holiday buying season is different. Many Black Friday sales have either started or been announced, as businesses try to get ahead of the holiday rush.

All this week, I’ll be sharing my picks with my 2020 Christmas shopping gift guides! Firstly, it’s all about supporting the small and local business. There are just so many amazing businesses that need help now more than ever. Here are just a few that I’ve personally purchased from…don’t worry, you’ll see more of them popping up all week.

Christmas Shopping Gift Guides - small business

one. I am the proud owner of a few ginger jars from Lauren Haskell Designs. From a sustainable studio to recycling/up-cycling excess fabric and textile products, this female-owned company gives back from start to finish, as a result.

two. Apolis‘ market bags are handcrafted in Bangladesh. Their artisans receive Fair Trade-certified wages, annual profit dividends, and a retirement fund. The bags are then shipped to Los Angeles, where a growing team of 13 people print one-of-a-kind customizations.

three. Started by two friends who noticed a lack of ways to share strong role models for their girls, Bravery Magazine includes role models diverse in ethnicity, race, ability, background, and interests. Each issue also tackles difficult topics in kid-friendly ways.

four. Party planning aficionados know about Anders Ruff, but did you know that Maureen and Adria started AR Workshop? They are DIY workshops for home decor and other creative skills with more than 150 franchise locations. Here are my thoughts on my location.

five. From characters and sports teams to your favorite TV show, Smoochie Baby Boutique on Etsy has a mask for everyone. Above all, this mom-owned shop wants to bring safe fun to your face.

six. I recently ordered a personalized party sash from White Rabbits Design and fell in love. From foil napkins and tattoos to balloons and festive drinkware, there is so much fun to choose from.

seven. Have a local bakery fave? Treats and gift cards are always the holiday win. For example, here in the Seattle area, Trophy Cupcakes is one of the top spots for cupcakes, macarons, cakes, and more! I discovered this small business treasure trove in my own backyard when owner Jennifer Shea made an appearance on Martha Stewart.

eight. A family-run business named after the owners’ daughter, Paloma’s Nest creates heirloom pieces for modern families. Every item is entirely handmade in their studios of the highest level of craftsmanship and quality. Thus, ensuring that it will bring joy and enjoyment for years and generations to come.

nine. Seltzer Goods is a women-led company and the makers and merchants of cheerful goods. Because they collaborate with a roster of creatives, they can create Tools for Modern Living; helping women live their best, multi-faceted, complex lives.

ten. This summer was my Summer of Organization, thanks to The Home Edit’s Netflix series, Get Organized. Talented Kitchen, a small company that offers items to help keep your home organized, in addition to plenty of labels to thrill me.

eleven. Mind The Minimal specializes in handcrafted concrete designs. Designer and founder Stephanie Keung is a minimalist at heart and a visual artist from Vancouver. I love her pieces because of the clean and simple designs; everything from coasters and planters to diamonds and cones for jewelry display.
