Today is March 29, 2024…Cowboy Carter, Beyoncé’s first country album (Dolly Parton! Willie Nelson!), has arrived. From the moment Act I: Renaissance landed, with its cover of a crystalized horse, our souls knew undeniably, something was up. From Yellowstone, “Old Town Road” and Barbie’s now-iconic Western pink movie outfit to Lana Del Rey’s (!) upcoming country album and collections celebrating Black cowboy pioneers, country core has dominated the scene.
