Celebrating Cinco de Mayo? How about creating this easy fiesta banner with a few simple supplies.

OK, so total disclosure. I was recently purging my craft bins and came across various packages of fringe tapes I purchased on clearance and then forgot all about them. They reminded me of my fringe placemats so I decided to recreate the look as a banner for my Cinco de Mayo bar cart.
Also in my craft stash, gold letters and a scallop edger that I use and trace out for templates.

But no worries, you can easily recreate my banner. I created a free template that you can download that includes the banner flag and letters!
Click here or the image below to download the banner flag and letter template; please note this download is for personal use only.
What you need:
- 8 ½” x 11″ cardstock sheets in various colors; you will need 6 colors of your choice + white cardstock
- 12″ X 12″ cardstock sheets in various colors
- banner flag and letter template
- scissors (a detail pair would be perfect) or fringe scissors
- adhesive of your choice (glue stick, double-sided adhesive roll, etc.)
- ruler
- small hole punch
- twine

- You have two options; download, print and cut out the banner flag on white cardstock, then use it as a template on each color of cardstock OR run each sheet of cardstock through your printer, printing the banner flag directly onto your cardstock, then cut each banner flag out.
- Print the letters out on white cardstock and cut them out.
- Trim your 12″ X 12″ cardstock into 1″ x 4″ stripes. Each flag needs nine stripes, so make enough for 6 sets of stripes. This is where you decide how you want to design each flag, how many colors you want on each flag, etc. I alternated between four colors and gold and silver fringe.
- Cut the fringe on each stripe with your scissors.
- The banner flags measure 4″ x 6″; measure 1″ up from the scallop bottom of the banner flag. The bottom row of your fringe stripe will start here.
- Adhere a fringe stripe.
- Adhere the next stripe ½” above the first fringe stripe; it should be overlapping the first fringe stripe.
- Continue this process until the first flag is created; it should have 9 fringe stripes.
- Repeat steps 6 – 8 for all 6 flags.
- Adhere a letter to each flag.
- Punch a hole near each corner and string the letters through with twine to hang.

Your fiesta banner is ready for your…fiesta! Speaking of which, it’s easy to put together a margarita drink cart.

However you set up your drink station, make it easy for guests to serve themselves with tequila, mixer, glasses and a shaker ready to go.
Psstt…I love a pretty glass but certain home stores want an arm and a leg for specialty glasses. Find them at a dollar store. For example, my margarita glasses are from Dollar Tree, and they are a heavy, solid glass that I absolutely love.
Instead of drinks, use a glass pitcher to hold tortilla chips. Serve the fixings in short glasses.

I hope my fiesta banner inspires you this holiday! Most importantly, if you need more ideas, check out my other Cinco de Mayo posts.
