Instead of Easter baskets, how about creating an Easter treat board? Food platters never go out of style, and today, I’m sharing how to build an Easter treat board with just a Target Run! Whether you go safely in-store or do Drive-Up, 90% of my board is a one-stop-shop. We’ll talk more about that a little later…

When it comes to creating an awesome treat board, there are three things to remember:
- Have a variety of sweets, colors, height, and textures
- Use a specific theme
- Lots of choices and fillers
What you want to use is limited by your budget and base size. Let’s break down my Target items:
- bunny butt cookie
- edible Easter grass
- Key Lime M&Ms (no longer available but check out their Easter version)
- Cadbury mini eggs
- Lavender, raspberry, and cotton candy Peeps
- Annie’s birthday cake bunny grahams
- bunny plates and carrot napkins – Dollar Spot (not available online but check out Spritz’ bunny plates and Easter farm napkins)
- shimmer pastel almonds
- strawberry cheesecake Donnettes
- chocolate carrots
- Peeps cookie cutters (no longer available but another fun option)
Everything else:
- Trader Joe’s Meyer Lemon Cookie Thins, Macarons, and dried lemon slices
- Blueberry gummy bears and rock candy sticks from Party City

- No matter the size of your surface, you must fill up all the space, so choose your vessel wisely to accommodate your treat budget.
- Both bases I used are cutting boards; feel free to use what you have; platters, trays, plates, large plates.
- When it comes to your theme, (yes, our overall theme is Easter) but are you focusing on cookies? Chocolates? A particular color scheme? A mix and match? It will help you narrow down your treat choices.
- My board is a mix of pastels and bright colors, since I just couldn’t choose, I wanted it all! I decided to focus on grouping my like treats together, with my bunny board creating a natural break.
- When choosing items, have a variety of sweets, colors, and textures on your board. For example, Pen + Paper Flowers’ spring board has a neutral color palette, but she has treats in a variety of sizes, shapes, and textures that keeps things interesting.
- Add height and dimension and create focal points as a result, with 2-3 small bowls or dip dishes, cookie cutters, or other small vessels.
- Here’s where the fun begins…laying your food items! Start with small clusters, and play around with what looks good to you. For example, go symmetrical, balancing large and small items, lay items by color, and use smaller items to fill in spaces.

Even if you are entertaining with a small group, an Easter treat board is always a big hit! Hope you have been inspired to create a sweet layout.
