This post is based strictly on my opinion. Others may have a different opinion or experience with the Reebok Spartan Race series. I was provided the giveaway item free of charge by the company or PR agency and I provided my honest opinion.
I’m a workout class kind of gal and I’m a big baby when it comes to being outside in the elements. Several of my friends have been competing in races and marathon and one consistently asks me to be in local color and mud runs. But I’m not going to lie…it’s all about my hair and that’s not happening.
With hubby a CrossFit junkie and the boys in every sport under the sun, this mama has been feeling the race fevah lately (but isn’t party planning a marathon??). So it must be kismet when I was approached to share the Reebok Spartan Race series.
If you have tried trail races, mud runs, tough mudder runs, or a warrior dash, then you are probably ready to step up to a Spartan Race obstacle course. It’s been voted the #1 obstacle race by Outside Magazine and focuses on building a healthy and active community of people. With events held worldwide, they are poised to take over the planet!
About the series:
Spartan Race is on a mission to get you active, healthy, excited about change, and return to our ancient roots where running through woods, getting dirty, and facing adversity was part of everyday life. Our events are all about challenging today’s perception of normal. Our events challenge the familiar, today’s perception of normal living and getting you out of your comfort zone!
At Spartan Race, we do this everyday and it shapes everything we do. Having experienced many different racing events, we wanted to make adventure racing more accessible to everyone, but do not be fooled by the word ‘accessible’, as our events have a challenge for everyone’s needs.
Spartan Race now introduces a level for everyone beginning with the entry level Spartan Sprint, intermediate level Super Spartan, the advanced Spartan Beast, and the ‘99.9% need not apply’ extreme level Death Race. Whatever your level, Spartan Race will test your strength, stamina, and sense of humor.
I know, aren’t you just jumping up and roaring right now?
Every Spartan Race has a Jr. and Varsity Spartan Kids Race to allow children to share in the thrill of an obstacle race. The Jr. Spartans obstacle course races for kids 4-8 are about a 1⁄2 mile and the 1 mile kids’ spartan races are for older “Varsity Spartans” aged 9-13.
Both kid races are filled with obstacle styles and amounts tailored just for them. Each child will receive a T-shirt and Finisher’s Medal with 100% of the Jr. Spartan Adventure proceeds benefiting the Kids Fit Foundation. As a leader in the movement to help children learn life-long health and fitness habits, the Kids Fit Foundation strives to raise awareness and develop programs that educate, empower and inspire kids to become and stay fit.
How awesome is this for your child’s summer bucket list? Not to mention general bad assery?
And today, we are going to get you half-way there with an awesome giveaway! Enter to win an adult open heat (non-confirmed start time) in any 2014 Spartan Race in the continental US and Hawaii. I keep active by signing up for road races, which gives me motivation to train and get in shape.
Bad Assery says it all!!
I keep active by swimming and walking and hope to join my OCR addicted daughter at a Spartan Sprint in the not so distant future.
I've been keeping my kids active by taking them on my runs with me
Every morning before work I go for a 5-mile run/walk around the neighborhood!
I keep active by having the kids choose an activity for our family to do.
I keep active by exercising daily(by running, swimming, hiking, hitting the gym, etc) with given rest days during the week when my body needs it). I just love exercising! It certainly helps maintaining a mind frame that I stay active not only because I love it, but this is essentially an investment in my own health.
I go on several walks everyday, usually after meals and with the family dog.
i keep active by running steps. and not just steps at home, but the steps at sports stadiums that allow public access. it's quite a workout.

I set a goal to run 350 miles this year. I'm already at 294 so I'm going to crush that
