If you’ve read my last post, I’ve warmed up to decorating with chinoiserie…and ginger jars…and temple jars. Since I am a lover of brunch, throwing a relaxed affair and styling a tabletop with ginger and temple jars was a no-brainer. With Mother’s Day is right around the corner, this is the perfect way to host a more intimate celebration.

Firstly, my search for all things chinoiserie brought me to WH Hostess’s ginger jar paper that inspired the tabletop’s look. I do love to use wrapping paper as a table runner. Sidebar, I’m also starting to get into the preppy, Southern-charm look, and she’s lots of great pieces along those lines.

The key to an interesting centerpiece is dimension, so vary the heights and widths of whatever objects you are using. Those variations cause the eyes to move through the space. With various sizes and shapes of jars and vases, plus different designs and patterns, we’ve got ourselves a great conversation starter.

The best part, the jars’ versatility! They work all over your home and can be moved around seasonally. I’m thinking about a Blue Christmas this year…

I love a blue/Kelly green combo and pulled those colors across the tabletop. The easiest way to mix and match patterns is to keep them within your color palette. This will tie your elements together, and allows you to add pops of accent colors like yellow and pink.

It’s easy to set up a brunch buffet; I do love my store-bought pastries, but I’m always looking for ways to dress them up. Did you know that American Crafts has a line of powdered sugar at Joann? I added powdered sugar and old-fashioned doughnut holes to a bag and gave it a shake!

I was tickled to no end with Martha Stewart’s sweet and savory tea sandwiches, so I made my own.

Trays are perfect for transport, as well as adding another layer of texture and interest. Like your jars, trays are versatile pieces; I use them all over my home to corral things. That’s another post for another day…

I hope you have been inspired to create a lovely brunch! Find even more of my finds below…
