It’s back to school time! Last time, I shared my inspiration board for celebrating Back to School Time for the grown-ups. I was inspired to create a celebration lunch with an easy cocktail idea and even easier DIYs to kick off the new year in style. Read on for more details…

Invite your friends over the weekend after school starts for a lovely lunch and catch up on summer happenings. My favorite thing about brunch/lunch, once the party ends, everyone still has most of their day.
- Inspired by this fun schoolhouse-themed scrapbook paper, I used one of the patterns to create the lunch tray banner, because, of course, it was perfect with my red lunch trays.
- I love to set the scene by mixing my vintage pieces with modern finds. It was fun to go through my existing decor and craft items, aka ‘shopping your home’; from my globes and milk bottles to vintage Thermos items and flasks.
- I was obsessed with the acrylic pencil charcuterie board, it makes a perfect platter set against the ruler paper runner.
- Speaking of banners, the alphabet one is an easy DIY of cardstock and felt letters.
- A school lunch staple, take chocolate milk to adult levels, serving with your favorite liquor. TIP: Use a dry-erase marker to turn any glazed ceramic into an easy drink menu.
I couldn’t resist these alphabet and apple plates, so I styled two different tables.

My favorite DIY was making mini caramel apples. No one ever seems to finish a regular-sized apple, so dipping miniature apples and finishing with a skewer and washi tape was perfect.
